In a landmark decision, FIFA has unveiled plans to transform the FIFA U-17 World Cup, marking a significant shift in the tournament’s format. Beginning in 2025, Qatar will become the host nation for the next five editions of the competition, which will now be held annually instead of biennially. This move aims to provide greater opportunities for participation, with the number of teams rising from 24 to 48, particularly benefiting lower-ranked nations. Additionally, the women’s under-17 World Cup will follow suit, expanding to 24 teams and seeing its next five editions hosted in Morocco.
